Softball Hell

First of all, I know I still have the mind-set of a 20 year old but my body is clearly telling me that is NOT the case. So Friday night we just hang out because we knew we'd have to get up early for the great softball experience on Saturday. "Hanging out" stopped at about 330 in the morning. Saturday 5 am comes and getting up is not happening very smoothly. Not good. We tell ourselves, "this can't be good". But we are troopers and carry on like faithful soldiers. 7 am, in Plano meeting our new team...Seem nice enough, funny and they too obviously had long nights. Again...Not good. First game, 8 am. We didn't get beat, we were spanked (18-1). It was incredible. Now, we are tired, hungry, pissed and already starting to get hot. Second game, we win. Third game, we win. This game both Sarah and I were hurt. Sarah slid in the dirt that felt like it was made of kitty litter and small pieces of glass, looks like a really nice road rash. I did something to my quad. At this point I am playing catcher so that's not helping this leg issue. Carrying on...moving forward. Play through the pain, right? "Damn, I am getting old" I keep telling myself. And the field just felt as if it just absorbed the freaking sun. Game 4, wooo hoooo! So excited to still be playing in the 105 degree heat. We are blessed to get to play the team that just whooped the crap out of us. Great, this is so much fun. We lose, not sure the score, but wasn't the beating we took that morning (thankfully, 2 and your out). Now, it's late, hot (can't mention enough how hot it was), burned, injured and finally get in the car to make that hour drive home. During this hour home, I was stripped of any decision making or planning for our weekends. I don't really understand this as I am just trying to keep us busy and out of trouble. LOL.. That excuse did NOT work with the girls. So, I have a feeling for the next couple of weeks until I can get back into the good graces of my "partners in crime" my social life will have come to a halt. Probably a good thing anyways, HELL, I CANT EVEN WALK. Just a little sub-note, thanks Loop for the use of your pool and house. You are the best. P.S.S. Coop where are you? I think I could have used your moral support....Then again you might have disowned me as well. Also, good luck with your new coaching position!!

Perspective

Here's the deal, a young man (24) died yesterday while flying an airplane for work. He was recently married and of course this is shocking everyone who knew him (Briggs) and his new bride (Joy). I just can't imagine this type of thing happening to me or an immediate relative of mine (or even a close friend). Makes me stop and say a prayer for them and then call those I have neglected as of late and tell them just how much I love them. Candra, Crue and Zans....I know you guys read this blog and even though I think I tell you plenty, I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU WITH MY ENTIRE BEING! For those of you who dont really know me, I am very affectionate with my kids and always tell them how I feel, but as I sit here thinking about this young couple I wonder if my kids would really know just how much I loved them fi something happened so quickly like this. I think so, I HOPE so. With that said, prayers for Joy and the entire Haugh family.

My Cubicle

I guess I am in a mood this week. I don't really have a cubicle but thought this was cute. It was sent from Juan Carlos in DF. Thanks so much for your "encouragements". You always have a way to make me laugh.

The Dog Days of Summer

Well lets see, this weekend was hot, hot and a little hot. Saturday evening Coop, Sarah and I caught the opening Dallas Diamonds game against NM. It was interesting, different. When we left in the third quarter the score was 70-0, Dallas. During that same quarter, I managed to get all of us (and Candra) recruited by the guy beind us (Ben) on his co-ed softball team. So, this coming Saturday we have a tournement in Plano. What the hell I say...we don't have a life. Why not play a little softball in 100 degree plus, humid Texas weather. Yes ladies, you ARE so lucky that you have someone like me to find us things to do. Do you guys think maybe we should practice? Pick up a ball? Swing a bat?...mmmm, poor Ben thinks because you "look athletic" you actually are...we'll see on Saturday how that turns out. Just a little more info for those of you who don't know any of us personally, we ARE pretty good at most things we do, well that is with the exception of that whole rodeo incident...but nice effort. Very nice effort...LOL. Love you Mija.

It's All Been Said and Done....

Quick recap of the big weekend. Thursday, Candra's horse Lucky wasnt cooperating so she had to borrow a horse that was unfamiliar and not very fitting. Of course I got a pretty big kick out of this. Friday, both queen contestants were dismounted from their horses. Also too funny. Candra's happened in the middle of the arena in front of quite a few folks (Sarah and I did not get to witness this act). Too bad, we were able to find humor all the same. Stephanie (the other queen contestant) was a little more private with her wreck however she was taken to the emergency room (she's fine now). Saturday, Apache, Candra's "other" horse, behaved wonderfully. No bucking, no issues. They both did great jobs. Stephanie was crowned queen and during this ordeal "Miss Bowie 2006" was mounted next to Candra. They become quick friends and Candra has now decided to go for Miss Bowie 2007. Yes, as you can imagine Sarah and I could have choked her. We still might...now that it's all been said and done, over...we all had a good time and brought us all closer together...and that's what it's all about anyways, right? Well, that and we get to see Candra fall off horses...

Candra's reining pattern for Cooke County Rodeo

She did well considering she only practiced on this horse one night. We are so happy this part is over. Now we just have the 3 rodeo nights and we are FINISHED!! Sarah and I have decided that if Candra ever signs up for ANY contest what-so-ever, we will beat the hide off of her. Oh yeah, Candra baby....GOOD LUCK MIJA!!

"Classy Player"?

Classy player, no. Just shows his TRUE character....so happy the french lost. I didn't care who won as long as the french didn't.

"THE" Grey...

I cannot say enough about this horse. He's INCREDIBLE. He has so much personality and is even more beautiful in real life. I saw him being roped off of on Monday night and horse and rider (Mario) are impressive. I really HAVE to have this horse.
